About Me

Happy New Year from Little Iowa Farmstead. I am Tara. A wife of 21 years, mother of four teenagers, and I work full-time as a C.S.T.(surgical technologist). We live on an acreage and busy ourselves with cattle, goats, chickens, ducks, guineas, and rabbits.  In the summer we add pigs and a large garden to the list. My husband works full-time at his job, as well as farming with his father, uncle and cousin. My oldest child is in college, #2 graduates high school this year, #3 and #4 are in junior high. The kids have been active in various activities throughout the school year as well as our 4-H program for years. This must be why I am always on the look out for a good project. Our oldest two also busied themselves with the FFA program while in high school. Agriculture, as you can see is important to our family.
I have been a CST for almost four years, it is still pretty new to me, and I love going to my job. I was blessed with being able to stay home with the kids early on, then worked at the schools they attended. This gave me summers off and lots of spare time to craft, play in our garden, and raise different animals. THE OTHER PASSION of mine — DIY. Pinterest is the best playground ever. The ideas are absolutely endless. I have torn pages out of magazines for years, so when Pinterest came along, it was so much more organized for me. My ‘Want To Do’ list will never be complete. I am blessed for that actually. Being able to continually dabble in all different projects makes for the best use of spare time. Repurposing anything and everything!!! We all know that time used well results in an accomplished day. For me anyway.
Starting this blog has been in the works for almost a year. My daughter, Zoey, and I brainstormed some ideas to begin this journey. Getting many of the key start-ups going, then our schedules got in the way. Starting the new year once again, the adventure begins!
Follow along as we raise a variety of farm animals, grow a garden, make some projects that are easier than they may seem, for inside and out of the home. You can expect to use fabric, wood, dirt, paint, or many other items in these projects. I am not off-limits to trying anything. Most will be first time tries that I may need help with myself. Just getting started is the first step to success.
